Introduction

Welcome to my Narrative 2 website. On this website you will find projects from all three of my freestyle classes. From English, you will find the short story which is the main product of the Narrative 2 Project. From Design you will find our book covers based off the story from English, and our recent surreal art project. Finally, in WebAudio you will find our book trailer, also based off our short story from English. Not to mention, this website is a major project from WebAudio.

Short Story

In English we were assigned the task of creating characters and using the characters to create a story. We started out by brainstorming characteristics of just normal people, maybe people we knew, or just someone we found on the internet. Then we took those characteristics and created our main character of our story. We had to create a backstory for our character, like what they do, what they like, what they hate, what they are trying to accomplish. Finally, we create a problem for our character, and tell the story of how our character handles this problem, and that is our short story. Look below for my short story

Book Jacket

After writing our short story in English, we moved the project along into Design. In Design we took the short story we had created, and made a book cover as if it were a real book we were going to publish. Through making this book jacket I learned that although book jackets sometimes look very simple, there is a lot of work that goes into making them.

Ken and Zoe first meet through a pastime they both love, art. They first cross paths at a museum looking at work from an artist they both love. They seem perfect for each other, it’s almost too good to be true. Only one thing could come between them, art. When Ken starts spending too much time on a particular art project, Zoe forces him to make an extremely hard decision. He must choose between her, and his art project he has been working on for months. What will Ken choose?

Surreal Art

After finishing our book jacket in Design, we moved on to surreal art. A new project that is surprisingly not based off anything from English. For this project we were asked to record our dreams and turn them into a piece of surreal art. We accomplished this through HDR and black and white photography paired with new photoshop skills. With these new skills we were able to create cool effects to really make our surreal art out of this world.

Website Design

Finally, after finishing our projects from English and Design, we began to work on our Narrative 2 Website, the site you are currently on. We had so many projects so I decided to split them up into 6 different sections; Intro, Story, Book Jacket, Surreal Art, Website Design, and Book Trailer. After filling in all the content I had to decide how my website would work. I chose to make mine scroll up and down, and also able to be navigated by clicking the buttons. This website was different from most of my other freestyle websites because it has responsive design. This means when you resize the browser it changes to better fit the screen. For example when you use it on a phone the screen will look different because it is on a smaller screen and the layout is a bit different. I chose to add a menu button to be able to hide the buttons away so they wouldn't take up too much space from the alredy crowded phone.

Book Trailer

Going back to the story from English, in WebAudio we created a trailer based on it. We created a short commercial acting as if we are seling the book. To watch it see below.
