Zenith

The Zenith project is the culmination of each student’s two year journey through freestyle. At the end of senior year every students comes up with project to work on over second semester to explore deeper a skill that they wish to learn more about.

My zenith project is what you see above. I made a T-shirt design for the FIRST Robotics Competition team I have been apart of throughout high-school. Every year we make 2 robots one during the season, then one after the season to train new students. Because the season starts off second semester of school, and the time requirements it takes to be an active member, many students only participate in building the off season robot. To represent the team at every competition we design a shirt with the robot we built during the season, which has doubled as something for everyone to wear and feel pride over what they made. The off season robots have never gotten onto a shirt even though many people worked on them, and only them, for their high school robotics carrier. I decided to design a shirt for the team members who should have a shirt with a robot that they made, but never got to display proudly on their chest.

Another part of this project for me was using the tool ZapWorks to turn the design into an AR interface on your phone. If you download the Zappar app on you phone and scan the code you will see what I’ve been able to do with that so far. I wanted to learnĀ  how to make cool interfaces with this new software freestyle just got access to, and figure out how it works and some uses for it.

Special Thanks to FRC team 971 who has helped me get through my highschool career without kicking myself for not doing a sport. Also a big thanks to Ms. P and Emma Crowley without either of which the shirt design would be a lot worse.
