The Zenith project is a project designed for students to find something that they are passionate about and to create a finished product based on those passions. It can be a time to explore new opportunities and techniques or to further sharpen your skills by having the freedom to work on anything you would like. Zenith in itself means “the time at which something is most powerful or successful” meaning that for this project the main goal was to create a polished and successful final product. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
For my Zenith project, I decided to take the time to work on a children’s storybook that I had been commissioned to finish. Ever since I was a kid I would spend lots of time in the library looking through the vast children’s books on the shelves. I adored the variety of styles and the colors, along with the energetic movements the characters had. I had always wanted to illustrate a children’s book myself so I decided to take this as an opportunity to finally fulfill this promise to younger me. The final form of this will be a book, however, since these illustrations take so much time I decided to just complete a chunk of the pages and showcase it in digital form. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
This project was a risk because I had never worked consistently on such a large and time-consuming project before. I had created small individual illustrations in the past, but making something this grand was overwhelming to an extent. It was also very new to work with a client this closely on a project, and I had to learn to let the client take control at times and learn to work together to find a compromise we were both happy with.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The skills I incorporated from my Design class were definitely ones that I had learned from my time in Illustrator. I hadn’t used Illustrator before my Design class, but in Design I had figured out how to use clean shapes and forms to my advantage when trying to convey a scene, logo, or specific information. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
