Showcase

Greetings! I am David Palacios, an aspiring creative mind flourishing at Freestyle Academy, where the environment has propelled my growth in creativity beyond my wildest expectations.

My senior showcase revolves around my passion and expertise: Logo/Product Design. Logo design has always captivated me, as it seamlessly combines my aptitude for communication and business acumen. Within this realm, I have unearthed a distinctive avenue to express my talents and abilities.

For this particular project, I seek guidance on how to amplify the immediate impact of my designs, refine my targeting towards the desired audience, and enhance the clarity of my communication through logos. Furthermore, I am open to general feedback to elevate my design work and would be grateful for any input.

Looking ahead, I intend to embark on a gap year to immerse myself in the post-high school world and explore its wonders. Travel has always been a fundamental aspect of my identity, often overshadowed by formal education. This is my chance to broaden my horizons and delve deeper into my passion for exploration.

While my fondness for design and the arts is undeniable, my true strength lies in the logical realm of numbers and finance. My ultimate goal is to venture into the Real Estate industry, guided by my mentor, where I aim to bring a unique fusion of creativity and logic to the field.

This video showcase offers a behind-the-scenes look at the intricate process of designing a logo and product. It provides insight into the methodical steps I took, and the thought process behind creating a design that would effectively capture the attention of my target audience.

The fictitious company for this project was named ‘BrawnyBowl.’ ‘Brawny,’ a term denoting physical strength, and ‘Bowl,’ well, quite simply a bowl. The use of vibrant hues of red and orange in the design was a strategic choice aimed at instantaneously seizing the viewer’s attention. The logo was meticulously crafted to symbolize strength, a trait many young people aspire to embody as they navigate their journey to adulthood.

The essence of this project lies in its symbolism and its capability to engage and resonate with the audience. I invite you to delve into the creative journey with me through this video showcase.

In this video, I am pleased to share a selection of projects I’ve pursued during my time at Freestyle Academy. My passion for illustration is evident throughout, as I have always held a deep affection for bringing ideas to life through art, making it a cornerstone of my creative abilities.

Photography is another aspect of my creative exploration that I am eager to share with you. It has been an integral part of my life, even leading me to embark on starting a photography business. Although this initial endeavor didn’t yield the success, it has been a significant part of my journey, and I have learned much from it.

I have the aspiration to further refine my photography skills. Perhaps in the future, I will revive my photography business, armed with the experience and wisdom gained from my initial venture. Please join me on this visual journey as I share the highlights of my creative endeavors.

Seconde Project

For my seconde project, I would like to show my Movie poster project. This project although short, was one of the highest quality pieces I produced in freestyle academy. The final result of this project is something I’m really happy with. I used different design methods to make a cool movie poster that shows what my story is about. A neat part of the design was making the letters look like windows – this gave the words some depth and made them more interesting. I also added bits of the story into the poster. I drew a cat, some tanks, and a monkey to make the poster more fun to look at and to give some clues about the story. I used a lot of black space to help guide people’s eyes to the important parts of the poster, like the words and pictures. This project was a good chance for me to learn, and I’m looking forward to trying new design ideas in my next projects.

Reflection:

Looking back at my time as a digital artist at Freestyle Academy, it’s been a real learning journey. When I started, digital art felt like a big, unknown world. But, step by step, I started to get the hang of it.

Freestyle Academy was a big part of this journey. The teachers and my classmates helped me learn and become better at digital art.

Sure, there were times when things didn’t go as planned. But each mistake helped me learn and encouraged me to try again. I learned how to take feedback, make changes, and keep improving my work.

When I look back, I can see how much I’ve learned and how my approach to art has changed. I’m looking forward to the future, ready to learn more and continue improving my digital art skills.
