Who am I? I am Devan Shah, a junior at Los Altos High School, attending Web Audio in Freestyle Academy. I made my website to portray my own qualities.
The design of this website shows how I am a space- headed person sometimes and how I would rather think about science and irrelevant ideas than work on things that I actually need to get done. The colors are of particular significance to me because the colors of space show how I am relaxed for the majority of my life, even while I am working stressful school work.
I created the music you hear on this page with an online tool http://www.aviary.com/ Audio Editor. The visual design of this webpage needed to be enhanced with music so I sequenced the music to evoke a feeling of serenity. I am who I am because of my Family and Friends. My family has made me a person with many values and philosophical i My friends have influenced me so profoundly that many times I end up using some of my friends' ridiculous lingo even when I think it is dumb myself.
At Freestyle, I am becoming a new person by learning how to combine artistic and technical skills. My Self-Portrait Diptych gives you even more insight into two different points of view that I have in that I use music to distinguish myself from the normal rap listening crowd. My Self-Portrait Illustration show the positive and negative qualities that I have. In my short life, I've learned some things that are true to my core and I have shared those with you on my Podcast page. I'm not a great writer and my Essay page bears that out, but I hope to improve on my writing skills. My vision of the world is expressed in my Photogallery and in it I see the world like this - the world is a bery complex place where even the most simple flower or pencil, is more complicated than the average human brain can even comprehend.
In about 9 weeks this year, it's amazing how much I have learned to create all that you will see on this Self-Portrait website. I didn't know much when I started in August, but now I know the basics of Garageband, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver. Now I know how to, just to list a few things, use the Pen Tool, optimize an image for the web, mix music loops on multi-tracks, properly set a disjoint rollover, manipulate CSS to format the look of my webpages, utilize Smart Objects, and use Live Paint Tools. There's much more that I haven't listed but now that I think back to the start, I feel that all the programs that I have learned to use at Freestyle all help me to use technology to express myself and my qualities.
Finally, I am very proud of this Self-Portrait Website because I spent a bunch of time creating the website and the artwork, so I hope you enjoy it.
