I’ve always liked preserving memories. Movie tickets, photo strips, birthday cards, and handwritten notes… I put them all in a shoebox to look back at when I’m older. But somewhere along the line, birthday cards depicting Tinker Bell turned into goodbye letters written on printer paper, and it feels like “older” came too soon.

When I took this photo, I intentionally repositioned many of its contents. I placed the simple card written on printer paper in such a way that it juxtaposes the childish Tinker Bell birthday card, showing the change in situations where people write to you as you grow older. I slightly edited this photo in Photoshop with a curves adjustment layer to brighten it.
