Exit

1/80 f4.5 ISO 400

After you put on your shoes, your next step is (usually) to leave the comfort of your home. Outside your home is a plethora of experiences and opportunities, and countless places you can go. I think that can be a metaphor for life, too: Leaving your comfort zone can be scary, but once you do it, you can have so many wonderful experiences that you may not have had otherwise. “Every exit is an entry to somewhere else.”

For this photo, I positioned my shoes in front of my door like a person was standing there, contemplating whether they should leave or not. I intentionally tried to make the outdoors look significantly brighter than the indoors, like it’s a place filled with excitement and new things to try. This made the indoors look a bit too dark, so I brightened it in Photoshop with a curves adjustment layer.
