Welcome to my Project Listing Page!

Home. Welcome to my project listing page. Here you can find introductions and links to all of my other projects.
Project 1: Self Portrait. Who am I? This project was designed to answer just that question. We were required to create one personal essay and a supporting poem for English, one diptych, a photo gallery, and one illustration for Design. Web students read their English essays aloud for their podcasts and created links to a handful of websites called “Web Gems.” All of this was incorporated in a website to put it all together. During this unit, I feel like I learned what Freestyle was really about. This website is not my best work, but to me, a relic of how much I have learned about making websites since then.
Project 2: Narrative. This unit was all about storytelling. Everyone wrote one 3-4 page comic, one flash fiction 300-700 words long based on the comic for English class as well as creating one Illustration and a photo-narrative diptych to supplement the story for Design class. WebAudio students turned their graphic novels into animatics on which to base their full animations. I put this all together on my website to showcase my work. The improvement in my website design skills is apparent here. There is more unity to this one.
Project 3: Documentary. For this unit, we first needed a concrete location. We were to document this location and the events that occur there. The goal of this unit was something along the lines of “to authentically tell the untold stories of your family and/or community.” For English, all students wrote a 5-7 page research paper about their documentary topics. In order to complete this paper, we first had to conduct three interviews each, and record and transcribe them. For Design, we all copied and pasted that paper into InDesign, accompanied by at least 30 photos from our location, to create a 30 page picture book that was published at the end of the unit. Web students read an abridged version of their paper aloud and put it in a slideshow with at least 17 pictures. My location was Bullis Charter School, where I attended grades 3-6. I feel like this unit taught me how to get a tremendous amount of work done in a very small amount of time, as I started two weeks late and finished on time.
Project 4: Experimental. What is art? The experimental unit was all about conceptual art. For English class, all students had to write 125 lines or more of experimental poetry. In Design, each student created an interpretive illustration that tries to convey a specific idea, message, or emotion. Web students created an animation based on one of their experimental poems for English. With each unit came less components of work, but it was never a load off our backs. I think I did not do my best work during this unit, as I was distracted constantly by the summer that was a month away. However, I did learn how to piece together ideas into art quickly.
This is my profile website. For the Profile unit, we had to choose one person about whom to write a profile. I chose a bird photographer and environmental conservationist by the name of Ashok Khosla. To complete this unit, for English, everyone wrote a paper of around five pages about their profilee. For Design, a professional portrait and magazine article were in order. For WebAudio, my profile website and an Adobe After Effects media feature were required. This was the most difficult unit so far. . I c
