Musical

Hippo Campus Concert 2018

This was from a concert at the Fillmore back in 2018. It’s probably the best photo I’ve taken at a concert, all the others I’ve ever taken have been blurry or too bright. I love listening to music, you hardly ever see me without headphones in. But there’s something so special about seeing a band live. Hearing the songs you listen to come to life in a packed room, everyone around you screaming the lyrics. I love music, and I love concerts too.

Film Noir

Chairs in Copenhagen

I took this photo while on a trip through Scandinavia last summer. I find it to be a really sad photo. It’s an abandoned conversation. Two people once so deep in something, a debate, a catch up over coffee, a meeting over somber circumstances. The chairs still left in their position, like the statues behind them, frozen forever.

Work

Chartroom at work

Over the summer, I got a job at an optometrists office. Quite a weird first job, I know. I went for an appointment, joked about how I needed a job, and they offered me one. I worked as an “optical assistant”. I cleaned the displays of glasses, alphabetize the chartroom, and check in the glasses. When the glasses arrived at the office, I’d check the prescription, package the glasses, and contact the patient. Working in the chartroom was the worst. They were in the process of digitizing their files, so I had to go through every file, and alphabetize everything. Despite the chartroom, it was actually a really fun job! The people I worked with were really nice and understanding when I made mistakes, and I had a lot of fun there!

Color Theory

Cortona, Italy

I love how there are really only four colors visible in this photo; black, orange, purple, and pink. And yet, with only four colors, this photo looks really cool.

Modern Convenience

Syd doing work in Digital Media while listening to music

If you told someone in the 80’s that there would someday be a world where phones fit in pockets and you can listen to music without wires, they’d think you were crazy. It really puts into perspective how much technology has changed over the past 40 years. Cutting edge technology like the Sony Walkman or Camcorders are either collecting dust in boxes, or being used by my generation as “vintage tech”

Rule of Odds

We look very contemplative and serious in this photo. But I’m pretty sure Syd was showing me a meme on her phone when this photo was taken. Nonetheless, the colors and framing make this a really cool photo.

Seasons

Snow on the trees on the way to Tahoe

I love winter! It’s my favorite season. I took this photo while we were stuck on the highway. The snow was crazy this particular year, and unfortunately we didn’t make it to Tahoe. They had to close the highway, black ice was on the road and cars were sliding everywhere. I still love this photo though, even though we never actually made it to the slopes.

Gratitude

Red Star Soccer 02G Team

I’ve been playing for Red Star since the 2nd grade. I was on the first ever girls team for the club, and I’ve loved every season. I had to leave the club and play for MVLA for a few seasons due to people leaving and not having enough players for a team. I enjoyed my time at MVLA from 6th to 7th grade, but I missed Red Star. In 8th grade, NorCal changed their age rules, meaning I could go back to Red Star, and I didn’t hesitate to say yes after they asked me to come back. We’ve won seasons and lost tournaments together. We help each other out whenever we can, and I’m very grateful for everyone on the team.

Rule of Thirds Emotion

My friend and I at Alpine Meadows at the top of Summit

I love snowboarding. Around the end of the first semester, with finals and everything, I get so stressed out. I kind of forget to have fun because I’m so worried about exams and projects. The thought of snowboarding always gets me through this time of year. This year, I started checking the snow reports in SEPTEMBER. I’m desperate to get back to Tahoe. This photo, to me, represents happiness. I’m on top of a mountain, with one of my closest friends, preparing to glide down a mountain at high speed. I couldn’t be happier.

Color without Color

Leigh Ann and I walking to the bench at halftime

This photo was taken at a tournament we went to in Davis. We were losing 2-0 at halftime, so we were all pretty frustrated. I went over to my friend to make sure she was ok.
