Introduction

Emily Cook

Hello! I am Emily Cook, a Senior at Mountain View High School and Freestyle Academy on the Digital Media track. In the fall I will be attending the University of Oregon as an Arts & Technology major. I spend my free time watching animated shows, editing wikis, and playing rhythm or logic games. I have an active online presence under the alias Ylimegirl and have created hundreds of characters that play their roles in dozens of stories over the last five years.

This website shows two of the design projects I’ve undertaken at Freestyle, as well as some of my favorite character designs, that demonstrate my design skills and passion.

Trisected Encyclopedia

The Trisected Encyclopedia is a book created for my Zenith project in senior year. I wrote and created all of the content for the book, as well as designed its layout and cover. The encyclopedia serves as an abbreviated guide to my original story Trisected, which is largely inspired by superhero cartoons of the late 90’s and early 2000’s. The companion website for the project can be viewed here, which contains all of the content from the book, and the PDF can be viewed here.

Marked: The Crimson Sword book cover

Marked: The Crimson Sword is the hypothetical first book in a book series detailing the events of the Marked series, which details the interconnected stories of seven different women throughout history. In particular, The Crimson Sword tells the story of Kimberly Crandall, the noble-turned-pirate who wields the powerful sword Excalibur, and her companion Francine Lavoie, the pirate-turned-outcast. For my Narrative 2 project, I created the book’s cover and created all the assets for it. The companion website for the project can be viewed here.

Miscellaneous character designs

Over the years I have designed numerous characters for my many stories. Below are some of my favorite designs from over the years from various stories, specifically Trisected, Pr’ki, Convergence, Kermit, Marked, Renshaw Hotel, and Kingdoms of Zyrisia.
