About The Project

In the Music Video project, Web and Film students collaborated to produce an original song and accompanying music video. Web/Audio students used ProTools and Reason to mix music, and our group enlisted the help of two singers from MVHS's advanced choir, The Madrigals, to sing. Alex Malo and Chas Wilken helped us out with vocals, and Chas also helped us come up with the melody and played piano and guitar for the song. For the video itself, I reached out to Shayda Dehnow and Stefano Scotti to be our main actors. After several filming and recording sessions and lots of editing, our group created a video featuring the song "In The Headlights" by Retrogression. The song itself is a satirical story about a cliche couple who face an unexpected tragedy. Watch the video below to see more! I'd like to give a special thanks to our very talented actors and singers, and to all of the Freestyle teachers.

In The Headlights
DESIGN
For the design portion of the Music Video Unit, we created both a poster and a t-shirt for our fictional bands. This project was based more in Illustrator, though I used Photoshop for many elements of the design. Both of the projects had to be complementary. I traced a drawing of a heart in Illustrator and put a glow effect on it for the poster. For the t-shirt, I used the same graphic without the effect and with a different shade of pink. I also incorporated sunsets into both designs to match with the theme of the song: cliche with a twist. Because the song 'In The Headlights,' is about a romance gone wrong, I combined sweet images and graphics with dark colors. I used a cute font, and a romantic color scheme. Retrogression is an Indie/Alterntaive band, and the style of the poster/t-shirt reflects that. The poster is on the left, and the t-shirt design is on the right.
