During the last eight months of my life I have learned and grown more in the technology and design fields than I have in the last seventeen years. Entering Freestyle, I didn’t know the principles of design, or what aperture meant. I didn’t know what divs were, or that you could download fonts from the internet and use them in Photoshop. The teachers at Freestyle have not only taught me how to use the programs, they’ve taught me how Design, Web/Audio, and English are significant and how they can be intrinsically interrelated. I now know what a clipping mask is, but, more importantly, I know how to harness my creativity to effectively use a clipping mask. Freestyle has been vital to my growth as a person this year and it has helped me decide who I am and what I want to do with my life. It has helped me embrace the combination of collaborative thinking and independent working to be highly productive. It has greatly improved my visual and technological literacy, and inspired me to go into Information Systems and Design, both Freestyle-esque fields. Thank you, Freestyle, for being the key to unlocking my future.
