Introduction

The goal of this class was to learn more about other softwares that I didn’t have experience on before. I learned to use new softwares such as Photoshop, DreamWeaver, and Illustrator. I’m more familiar with After Effects so I found it very fun to explore other types of Adobe softwares! I also take English and Film and I got the chance to learn so many things in both classes. English has helped me be more comfortable with writing rather than scared of writing out things. And for film, I’ve learned so many more components that are in Flim that I did not know about.

Something that I’ve learned about myself is that I’m a learner. Ever since I joined Freestyle academy and I took these classes, I found myself wanting to learn more about each class. It is my highlight of Senior year and I’m glad I got the chance to take these classes on my final year of high school.

Mandala

At first, Illustrator was very hard for me to use. I wasn’t aware of what tools to use and I got a bit overwhelmed. But the more I got into the project, the more I got the hang of things. I started to understand the software and started to enjoy the process of creating the Mandala.

Title: Make-Up

Something that I would do different is how I colored my Mandala. I’m not that familiar with digital art so I found it a struggle to color my mandala. I felt like the colors didn’t clash together very well.

I valued the process of making this Mandala, I got to understand the program of Adobe Illustrator more, I’m more familiar with After Effects so I found Illustrator to have similar functions. I’m glad I got to understand how the program works more.

I’m very creative with details and I tend to have very basic styles. I also learned that I’m very well known in the area of Adobe softwares.

Photoshop Art

I found Photoshop very hard to work with at first. I wasn’t aware of what tools to use for certain things so it was very new to me. But as time progressed, I’ve learned more about the program and was able to accomplish learning new thing such as watercolor painting and editing photos.

Photoshop Pastel Painting

Title: Two

It was very new, I’ve never drawn anything on photoshop before so I found it really interesting to mess around with the brushes and create new paintings digitally. Something that I value about creating a photoshop pastel painting is how you can always redo a stroke if you mess up. When you are actually pastel painting on actual paper, you have to be careful on how you paint it and not mess up. If you mess up, you end up messing up the entire painting. Something that I learned is that I’m very new to this kind of art style, especially since it’s done digitally. I want to learn more about this program and make more digital drawings in the future if I have the time to do it.

Photoshop Watercolor Painting

Title: Pond

The background to this painting takes place in a pond at a hotel. The hotel is located in Hawaii, it is called Marriott Hotel. I go to Hawaii every year, this pond takes place in Honolulu. When my family isn’t doing much I usually go to the pond area and look at the fish while waiting for time to pass by. I made another painting to this pond before so this is a second part to that drawing. In the “what makes watercoloring special” article I had a strong connection to the “Paintings I assure” part. I want to be more confident in myself when it comes to making new things. I also want to be more confident in my art work. I also relate to how this artist is learning new watercolor techniques because I’m also very new to photoshop. Another connection was with the article “Great Watercolor Teacher’s Advice.” In this section, “Practice, Practice, Practice,” I relate to how she keeps painting and practicing to get better at certain things like writing, playing golf, and musical instruments. I want to practice more on photoshop and get to know the program more. I also want to get back into digital drawing with photoshop. I also relate to the article, “Why Watercolor?.” The artist Frank LaLumia describes how watercolor is addictive and they have been water coloring for many years. They also talk about how they still bring the same qualities to studio watercolors. I relate to this because I used to draw before on paper a lot and I bring some of those techniques to watercoloring on photoshop. I find watercoloring to be more fun and creative compared to pastel painting. I get to come up with more creative pictures with watercoloring compared to pastel painting. They both have their difference and specialties but I find myself loving the watercoloring side more. As for digital painting vs. analog painting, I find myself to love digital art more because you have so many more materials and advantages to use compared to analog painting. I love the amount of colors and materials you can virtually use compared to a pencil or colored pencils. But I do love drawing freely towards the analog side, digital art is more appealing to me though.

Photoshop Watercolor Painting Effect 3

Title: Mist

I find many of these pictures pleasing to look at. I love the overall aesthetic of Japan, ponds, and sunsets. These pictures represent my aesthetics and what I find beautiful. Some of my thoughts while making these pieces is how pretty they looked as a watercolor painting. It makes me want to turn many beautiful photos like these into watercolor paintings so I can hang them on my wall. I can see myself doing this type of art style in my free time. Maybe doing them for fun.

Photoshop Composite

Photoshop Surreal Art

Title: Raze

The message of my Surreal Composition is to show the culture of Japan and how beautiful their art pieces and overall place looks like. I wanted to blend in a traditional place in Japan with other traditional art pieces/items such as the fans, dragon art, and the famous tsunami art piece. The techniques that I found useful for the Surreal Composition were the blending tools. It helped me pull all of these images together to share very vibrant colors and clash them together to make my Surreal Project more “complete” and put together. I think Surreal Composition brings out the creativity people have compared to Realistic Compositions. I find Surreal to be more fun to work with thought, I can combine lots of images together to make an unusual/abnormal art piece. I like the differences in my Surreal piece compared to others because it demonstrates to us what kinds of aesthetics we have and what we find astonishing to create.
