Introduction

Hello and Welcome to my page, My name is Eren George and In 2017-2019, I was a Junior and Senior at Freestyle Academy. While at Freestyle I took classes in Design, Digital Media, and English. I was able to create a vast variety of projects during my time at freestyle and was able to learn a lot of new skills along the way. This isn’t my first time taking an art class, but this is definitely the most worth while art classes that I have been apart of. I am grateful for the teachers pushing me out of my comfort zone and pushing me to be my best, I cant thank them enough.

Covid-19 Self Portrait

The first project that I have chosen to display is my self portrait. I was really able to have creative freedom with this photo, at first it was challenging to think and compose the photo because I was unsure of what to produce. After a lot of thought this is what I came up with.

I have chosen this project because I believe it really showcases the skills that I have learned over the years. This photo composition is me lying on my floor. I have set up a white backdrop on the floor. Surrounding me are rose petals as I lie in the middle of them. I have placed a grey blindfold over my eyes that it is tucked behind my head. The composition has been changed to a grayscale color scheme.

The genuine connotation of this photo composition is meant to shed light on what the senior class of 2020 is going through with this global pandemic. The senior class has lost a tremendous amount of opportunities to be with one another and to have closure of our high school career. I have experienced a considerable amount of heartbreak throughout the past 3 months, the loss of countless senior activities, and the loss of someone close to me. I wanted to display how the heartbreak had felt with this final photo. The blindfold signifies the feeling of not knowing what is coming; the uncertainty of the future. Rose petals represent the heartbreak that I and the class of 2020 has experienced. Finally I chose to make this composition a grayscale color scheme to exhibit the heartache and grief that everyone in the world is experiencing with this global pandemic.

Podcast

The next project that I have chosen to showcase is my podcast that I produced with my classmate Natalie Hu. I loved the podcast unit because we were able to talk about a topic that both Natalie and I felt close to; the Dance Spectrum program at Mountain View High School.

I had so much fun working on this project with Natalie, In the beginning of the unit we both had a similar idea for podcast.  We decided to work together and the process went smoothly. Natalie and I were able to bounce ideas off of one another effortlessly.

Looking back on the project I notice that I learned a lot specifically about what makes a good podcast and the best way to format the commentary. Overall I genuinely enjoyed this project.
