For this project, we were prompted with documenting a profile of a specific subject or person, and using interview to better portray that focus. I decided to work with Forrests Music, a music store in Berkeley, California, as they are a double reed specialty store (more information about that inside of the magazine article) and I have been a customer of theirs for a while now. In this process, we took secondary sources from our research as well as the interviews to craft a research paper, and then for Design, we created magazine articles to better frame our writing for the general public… So instead of a PDF of the research paper, you can find all of that content inside of the magazine itself. In this paper, I intend to help give a look into the greater modern music ecosystem, and view it from the perspective of Forrests Music, one of the still flourishing bastions of small business within this world that has changed in prominence through the time.

The project as a whole has been pretty difficult for me- I wound up dissatisfied with my writing throughout, feeling that I had set myself up poorly with badly set interview questions, and in general, lacking optimism. However, I did end up with some sort of product, and I think it helps me in the long run understand better how to set these kinds of products up in planning better moving forward.
