Ethan Clark (That’s me!) – A newcomer to the dungeons and dragons scene Ethan’s interesting first ever D&D campaign happened in this very podcast. Ethan goes to School at Los Altos Highschool in Northern California where his interest in politics and history is renowned. He has always been interested in Dungeons and Dragons and this podcast provided the perfect opportunity to test the waters!

Zach Raschkke – A veteran of the Dungeons and Dragons scene Zach has participated in many campaigns and has picked up a few tricks from his older brother. Zach would help guide Ethan through his first campaign and try to not lose his patience during a less than normal campaign. Zach Attends Los Alto Highschool and his interests involve cars, motorcycles, and animation.

Shannon Mills – The great dungeon master… Shannon Mills created the campaign experienced in the podcast and served as the guiding invisible hand in the other character’s quest for glory. Shanon was excited about the project early on and collaborated with both Zack and Ethan on ensuring that the project was finalized. Shannon attended mountain view high school. Shannons interest includes Cosplay, Animation, and Anime.

Allison Moser – A veteran player Allison signed up to partake in the epic campaign. Introduction

Freestyle is always focused on providing opportunities for students to illustrate their creativity. The podcast unit is no different as the goal for students was to convey a meaningful story through the podcast medium. This is no easy task as Podcasting is different from most other forms of conventional storytelling while serving as a powerful way for people to share their thoughts. One of podcasting’s biggest strengths is the low barrier to entry. Anyone can make a podcast and they can talk about anything. This inspired me to try something different, dark and serious topics are what I prefer to discuss but for the project, I was inspired by comedian podcast projects and group dynamic podcasts to create something a little out of my comfort zone and in the end, it turned out to be a great gamble.

Process

The Process of making the podcast was fairly straight forward. First, we gathered a crew to participate.

Then we established a basic plan. After that, we recorded the podcast.

The final and most challenging process was the editing which could have been done on ProTools or adobe audition and we chose to edit with the later.

Editing on Adobe Audition

Final Product

After all of the steps where completed, this was the final product!

Reflection

The Podcast project was a very enjoyable experience. I valued the laid backness and the opportunity to do something really fun involving other people. There were challenges like figuring out how to record and what direction to take the podcast in editing but those challenges made the final product more satisfying. I love the product and the risky humor seemed to pay off (even if we had to bleep some stuff out).
