Introduction
For my explorations project, I chose to score a scene. Scoring a scene means that you write a specific piece of music to support what’s happening in the scene. I chose to do this because I love music and have always wanted to find a way to connect Film to music. After a lot of research, I discovered ways to manipulate your audience into feeling different emotions and applied that to my scoring. I wanted to stay in my comfort zone and use the instruments I knew well but decided that it’d be more of a learning experience to branch out and do more than just what I’m comfortable with. I definitely got a chance to explore my creativity and what I can create with the things I have available.

Reflection
Overall, I’m very happy with the way that my Explorations turned out. This was my favorite unit by far because we were allowed to express our creativity how we wanted to. I worked really hard on my score and learned a lot about music and in my opinion, it definitely paid off in the end. I will definitely be using the skills I’ve learned throughout this unit to produce similar things in the future.
Music
In Digital Media, we learned how to create music using virtual instruments which I was very excited about. I had a lot of different ideas for what to do and ultimately chose to do a Bossa Nova type song (but it strayed from that the more I worked on it). I really enjoyed this assignment because I love music so this was right up my alley! I ended up using a jazz beat drum, a tuba , and a nylon string guitar. These instruments together created the sound I was looking for so I’m really happy about that.

Reflection:
Overall, I felt like I did a good job on my Experimental Music because I spent a lot of time on it and researched about what type of sound and instruments I wanted to use. I like this unit because I was allowed to be creative with what I wanted to do. This unit gave me practical skills to create music and hopefully someday I can create an original song of my own. I will definitely be using what I’ve learned with the Pro Tools virtual instruments in the future to create different songs and tracks like this one!
