Introduction

This section of my website is intended to showcase some of my best freestyle work.

Senior narrative (film)

In my senior year freestyle film class, we were tasked with creating a cohesive dialogue-driven narrative short film. The limitations placed upon my partner Ryan and me by a global health crisis (COVID) were at times quite discouraging but I still poured a lot of myself into this project and am proud of what I accomplished.

Zenith (film)

For my final freestyle project, I was given the power of choice and I chose to create an experimental documentary about my grandfather’s Alzheimer’s. This was a project I’d been hoping to make for a while because it was close to my heart. I also experimented with mediums that were new to me in the form of frame-by-frame animation in order to make a more unique final product.

Lyrical Essay Animated (English/Digital Media)

This project started in my English class where we were reading experimental forms of narrative known as Lyrical Essays. The culmination of the narrative unit in English was to create our own Lyrical Essay. My Lyrical Essay focused on the topic of my personal insomnia and explored my nightmares and how music and nature have helped me cope with my nighttime sleep depravity. I then got the chance to create art inspired by my Lyrical Essay in Digital Media so I decided to make an experimental animation in After Effects inspired by the experimental essay itself. The result features my reading of the essay and is featured below.

Video Essay (film)

For my senior year film class, we began by creating a reflective video essay to showcase our thought process. In order to accurately show my thought process, I felt it important to touch on some of my mental health struggles. This video essay chronicles the time I picked up a pizza order in pajamas with my inner tangents and social anxiety thought spiral that accompanied the event.
