Showcase

Welcome to my website! I am a senior at Freestyle Academy this year, with a focus in Design! Freestyle has been the best opportunity for me to develop my art skills even further, and be able to have a creative outlook on school projects. I have been so lucky to learn from my teachers and fellow students to experiment with new mediums of art and challenge myself to try new things. The amount of support and encouragement is spread around all of the Freestyle. Outside of freestyle, I can be seen playing tennis, participating in Model UN, or getting involved with my Jewish community. I am extremely passionate about community service and spreading what’s important to me through public speaking. I get so excited about anything when it comes to helping my community. Additionally, I’ve been really involved in music for the past few years now. I’ve been playing piano for about 4 years, guitar for two, and I was part of the Mountain View High Choir. Music always gets me through the day and I can’t express my appreciation for it enough. What I really enjoy in the art aspect is photography and being able to make something so simple come to life. I took a photography class in middle school and ever since then I’ve been really inspired by all different types of styles in photography and I can’t wait to show what I can do! I really value all the opportunities we get to be creative in freestyle, this is so important for people to be able to express their true ideas and values through their artwork. Additionally, I love reading and writing poetry and I’m so glad that we get to spend time in English to work and develop our poetry writing skills. Post graduating, I plan to study Computer Science and Design at Northeastern University in the fall!

Movie Poster

It’s 2080 and robots have officially taken over the universe. Many see them as evil and unstoppable in their malicious intentions. Except for Abby, who falls in love with Speedy, a robot named after his habit of running away from guards. Abby will do anything to save Speedy from being unplugged and makes many sacrifices along the way. Abby has to keep her romantic life a secret, as they go on adventures through space.

I created my poster by starting with a blank canvas in Illustrator. I was inspired by Steven Spielberg’s “E.T,” especially the movie poster’s highlight on the special relationship between the human and the “monster.” I took inspiration from this, in drawing a human hand reaching out for the robots’. I added a drop shadow under both of these objects to make it stand out against the background. Since the movie doesn’t only take place on planet Earth, I drew an outline of Mars, from the perspective of outer space. I added an outer glow as well. I then added a stock photo of the stars from space. I thought this was a perfect background and didn’t take attention away from the main subject of the hands. I then chose my font for the movie title, which was a sci-fi inspired font found on Dafont.com. I also created my credit block in Photoshop, using a specific font created for movie credit blocks. I then added PNGS of movie logos, such as ‘Dolby Digital’ and ‘Paramount.’ I hope you enjoy this tale of “two star-crossed lovers”.

Product Design

For this assignment, we were required to create our own fake product, as well as the label and logo for our product. I decided to design a coffee company, named “Brulee Co.” My market is all coffee drinkers, who like a little bit of sweet taste in their coffee! My product is specifically whole bean coffee which can be used to brew espresso, and it has hints of hazelnut and caramel.  I used different techniques including the pen tool in Illustrator to draw all the different shapes and drawings of my logo. I also used different symbols for texture, and color swatches to create a theme. I ran into different challenges including how to incorporate negative space into my logo. As well as making sure that it was clear my product was coffee beans. I would love to do another project similar to this, as it allowed me to delve into the professional world of design. If I were to create a magazine advertisement, I would incorporate all the different flavors of my coffee beans. I would most likely have a model holding a mug with my logo on it, as well as different aspects of the hazelnut and caramel taste. I would also include where the beans come from, and the different methods of extracting and growing the coffee beans.
