The second artwork I would choose not to include is the Apple Core seasons series by Claes Oldenburg. This piece explores ideas of rotting and discarding. While this is an interesting concept, I personally don’t think it was visually represented in the artworks. The Lithographs are just simple drawings of apple cores that, to me, don’t convey the ideas the artist was exploring. I do not feel like I can look at these artworks without knowing the context, and find meaning within them.
