There are a few different ways to go about taking a photo with this theme, but I thought it would be interesting to take it a little bit less literally by not actually including any food in the photo, and instead photographing a plant that is yet to grow food. The branches of the tomato plant were sticking out very strongly to the side, which I thought would make for a neat composition. As usual, I tried out a few different angles but decided on this one where the branches seem to be coming out at the viewer. I really liked this effect, and decided to emphasize it in my Photoshop editing. I used the curves tool and masks to darken the background and lighten the leaves, making them a stronger focal point. I was able to create a very exact mask on the foreground leaves by using the quick selection tool and applying a bit of feather to make it less harsh. Overall, I really love how this photo came out, and I’m also very excited to eat some tomatoes when they finally grow!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
For this photo blog, we had the simple prompt of “food”.
