Introduction
For my project, I got to make a short documentary about my interviewee. It was fun to work with new tools but also challenging because of how much work I had to do. But when it was done, It felt great and my documentary video turned out really well. I had the privilege to work with anything to create my own documentary video. The best part about this was making the animated sequences, it was great and they turned out how I expected them to turn out.
One of my biggest inspirations of creating this was watching short animated films about different topics which helped me come up with a topic and it was “Stress and Coping”. I wanted to cover this topic up because I am sure that a lot of people deal with stress and i wanted to show my interviewee’s perspective of how she sees and deals with her stress. Interviewee
Lavanya is currently a freshmen at Los Altos high school. She loves hanging out with her friends and family but struggles in school. She loves but also hates meeting new people and can be very anti social. She likes drawing protraits of people and she loves drawing her thoughts. She has moved school a few times which makes it hard for her to make more friends since she isn’t very social.
In this documentary, my interviewee talks about her struggles with school and how she deals with it. It gave me an opportunity to show people so they can relate to my interviewee and give them a different perspective about stress.
Production
To animate I used a software called Adobe animate. It is one of the best softwares for animation. I got to learn new tools and new ways to animate which made it challenging for me too but I got the hang of it and learned/made a lot of cool stuff like my documentary project!
To add sound effects and music, I used an app on my phone and to put together all the animations and music together I used premiere pro which was a bit hard because I had to switch through different applications but it turned out really good and exactly how I wanted it to turn out.
I also created a trifold related to my documentary which turned out really good and added on to my topic about stress and coping. thought it would be a good idea to also create a trifold since I always wanted to make one and it made me learn a lot of things and new tools to make things like this.
Overall, It was really fun working with new things and pushing my limits to see what I can really do and make for people and myself. It really showed me my creative side and gave me a chance to explore more of that side. It was also great make a documentary about one of the topics that I always wanted to cover through my own style of art and my own perspective of that topic. digital media is probably one of my favorite classes because it made me explore new things like creating music, making sound effects, graphic design and much more. Learning all these skills made me even better and expanded my knowledge of creativity. I am thankful for choosing freestyle and it was a great year for exploring my creativity.
