Broken Spectacles
My first ever piece written with screenplay format (albeit only for a short scene). “Broken Spectacles” was done at a writing class over the summer. The assignment was to write a scene, the only requirements being the scene must involve an old man with broken glasses, and a teenager with a lost phone.
I decided to write about a face off between a haggard old magician, and a group of college frat boys.

Agent Dreamer
“Agent Dreamer” (working title) is a short, two minute film made for the Self Portrait unit in Film class. I wanted to try to show the feeling that we all got (maybe it’s just me actually) of day dreaming ourselves into extraordinary situations doing quite ordinary activities and the effect stories have on us.

The Tryout
“The Tryout” follows the journey of a high school student, Mark, down on his luck, recently breaking up with his girl friend, Kira. This all changes when Mark has a run in with “the queen” of the school, Lindsey Price. Mark seizes this opportunity and asks Lindsey to homecoming, surprisingly not being rejected, but rather told to go to the theatre later to “tryout” to take Lindsey to homecoming. Will Mark overcome all the challenges in the coming week, beat out the competition, and maybe even learn a thing or two about himself?
It’s a high school comedy with no bars (or Matt Taylor joke) held back.

The Tryout is a short film done for my Narrative 2 unit for my film class. It was the first narrative film in which we were allowed to use dialogue and hence, also the first film we were required to write a screenplay for. The screenplay was written by me, with slight revisions done by my partner, and is based off a short story I had written two years prior.
