A Documentary of a Giant Slayer

To be honest, when I was told we were going to do a documentary unit in junior year, I thought that it was going to be pretty boring. Little did I knew that this particular documentary was a catalyst for a whole new interest within my aspirations as a filmmaker. I had a great time learning of the tale of David, our documentary’s subject and a close friend of mine, as he explained the hardships he had to endure growing up with a paralyzed left leg. I would consider this my best work because it helped my understand what is needed in a documentary pre-production-wise and what I needed to do to obtain them. This was my favorite junior year project, and I hope it will be the same for future Freestylers if they watched our group’s documentary.

A Short Film about Neurodiversity and Dating

This was made during my Reflections unit at Freestyle, and I was applying for colleges at that time. I had a real good taste of managing a film production, and while somewhat disorganized, this ended up being a very successful project (actually gotten me accepted into various schools). The story is about a man who is neurodiverse and is nervous about his date with a neurotypical woman. I am strongly attached to this film mainly because I myself have high functioning autism. I wanted to really explore love for a neurodiverse individual and hoped that some of my future projects will tell similar stories.

A Clip from a Pilot Episode

Zenith is supposed to represent the pinnacle of a Freestyler’s work, and this project not only let me embrace my filmmaker side, it also allowed me to produce my dream narrative into reality. This is a clip from the pilot episode of my television series American Roulette. It takes place in a terrifying America as various individuals escape from a sinister organization hoping to get them back and brainwash them for their nefarious plans of world domination. I felt my heart clench and my eyes almost brimming with tears as every scene was filmed and edited into this final product (I wish I had the technology to really craft the action sequences). I hope to pitch American Roulette to various networks and get green-lighted into a series.
