The phenakistoscope is regarded as one of the first forms of animation. We created a loop with 16 frames on a circle and made it a gif on photoshop. Our assignment was to try to represent an emotion through the movement of geometric and abstract shapes. Our first frame was the same as another student&#8217;s last frame, so together our seperate animations would combine to create one long animation. We practiced straight ahead and pose to pose animation. We chose between using paper cutouts, sand, paint, or charcoal. I used paper cutouts for the first animation and paint for the second.\u00a0 We were required to use animation principles such as follow through, overlapping action, and secondary action. A challenge with using direct techniques was that we could only do straight ahead animation.<\/p>\n\t\t\t<div data-mode=\"normal\" data-oembed=\"1\" data-provider=\"youtube\" We chose the poem\u00a0<em>Lies About Sea Creatures<\/em> by Ada Limon, and split it up into five parts. We chose between any of the animation forms we learned this quarter to create interesting visuals for our part of the poem.
