Introduction

“How can I use unconventional forms to express myself?”

This project displays, how different abstract art forms could be used to display human emotions and feeling through music, art, and film. Projects like web design and parody songs can bring out students emotions with their own unique style. You not only develop your own style through these projects you ware able to develop your technical skills through lessons on how to use a variety of modern professional equipment and applications. Things that we use are DSLR cameras, Tascam Audio Recorders, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Animate, Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe After Effects, Adobe Audition, Avid Pro tools, WordPress, and Google Apps.

Art Reflection

In September, I took a trip to the SFMOMA art museum where we were tasked with finding a art piece that really spoke to use and that we could see meaning in. In both English and Digital Media classes I wrote a statement about the piece “Art For the Art World” Where I was able to combine both my digital media technical skills and my English writing skills to make a video for my reflection.

This project was fun, I was able to combine skills into a product that I ended up enjoying a lot. The new skills on how to edit videos in Adobe Audition and different techniques to enhance my video like, panning, text transitioning on screen, and music fade ins and fade outs.

Parody song

My process to make this song was to gather some of my friends and combine ideas to make this. I started by writing the lyrics then in class, had to go into a recording booth to record my parody song. Then after I was finished with that I used Adobe Audition to edit, balance volumes, add reverb, and overall polish the piece into something that I liked and thought was funny.

Artist statement for Parody Song

The song Blank Space by Taylor Swift inspired me to write a parody about Deepwoken because I noticed that many of the original lyrics matched well with what happens in the game. Looking back at the parody-writing process, I would say that the hardest part was making the lyrics flow smoothly with each other. I had many problems, even in the final piece, where I couldn’t fit all the words I wanted into the short time frame.

My message with the lyrics was to create a song about someone who isn’t very good at the game. All of the events and references in the song relate to players like that. I focused on making the lyrics about things these players would recognize and relate to. I also talked to many people who play Deepwoken this way to make the parody as accurate as possible.

Photoshop Blend Mode Editing

In this short project, we used pictures from our camera to learn about basic photo editing and blending techniques for future use.

What do you value about learning about and creatively using Photoshop Blend Modes?

I values learning how to edit picture’s especially combining pictures to make a new one.

How do you see yourself using your new Photoshop skills with your creative projects?

I see myself making covers for tings I make with these skill or just general photo editing.

Animation section

I grown a lot in animation, I started the year with 0 animation experience but after half of the school year I feel as if I improved a lot. I could barely make a good walk cycle at the beginning of the year but now I cant make them very quick and with much more quality. I value the quality of my work and will work hours outside of school to get my desired result.

Hi, I’m Izaac Virasak, a student at Freestyle academy. I am a 17 year old student in the 11th grade at MVHS who is also enrolled at Freestyle. I adore anything art, I respect anyone who can pick up the pencil and make things that express themselves. I do things like marching band outside of school with an amazing community that supports each other. I usually like to stay home and do things like draw, play games, or watch shows but I’m not opposed to going outside to mess around. I love music and I even play the trombone but anything with an electric guitar or a bass I will almost always like it.

 Some of the things I most value in like people being Accountable, I don’t want to work with someone who blames everyone else for their problems. Someone who is unstable, can’t work with a team, or always brings a bad atmosphere around them is not welcome, 2. Personal Expression, I believe if you do not express yourself through your actions, work, or your dreams you aren’t living because if you have no sense of self to the point where you can’t even express it, who are you? 3. Being able to imagine. Imagination takes a huge role in day to day life, I don’t like someone who can come up with ideas or can’t see past what is already set in stone. I also believe without an imagination you cannot live because again, without your imagination who will you be? What will you become? 

I’m currently working to become an animator and wish to inspire others like me to pursue their dreams even though people around you may not believe you can. With inspirations like CyberPunk Edgeruners, One piece, panty and stocking I believe that animation has the power to change lives, inspire others, and change the world. The stories told through animation get brought to life through someone’s hopes, dreams, and soul getting transferred from a pencil to paper. I want to be that turning point, someone who inspires others, even if it’s just one person that would be enough there is no greater joy than knowing you changed someone life for the better, made their day a little better, made their walk a little faster, and made a spark burst to a flame within them to make a new dream to change another. 

And finally, why am I here? Well, I hope it’s obvious that I want to make something great and I think that the first step to that is to come here. This community, these resources are what I need to create. Along with learning all about how art changes someone, I learn hundreds of useful skills that prepare me for the real world. This place is nothing but welcoming, coming on the first day I admit, I was scared. I thought I would be thrown into the ring, forced to learn as I went. But it turned out so much different. This place doesn’t feel like school, it feels like a huge passion project with everyone including putting everything they have to make it the best experience possible.

Praxinoscope Zoetrope

This Praxinoscope displays a blue flag blowing through the wind.

Phenakistoscope Wheel

This art piece depicts a innocent baguette skipping and dancing around. While he jumps and plays he doesn’t notice missiles being launched behind him. Even through the chaos going on behind him with constant missile fire he still jumps and plays unaware of what going on.

Flipbooks

This displays a character opening what is called a “domain expansion.” then you get transported to a domain of clocks where he speaks to you.

This flipbooks challenge was transforming a shape into another shape, starting from a simple disk going to a star. I turned it into a popular icon known as “Dawnwalker” from Deepwoken then into a eye mech from the Terraria mod Calamity.

Stop motion

This animation shows Pochita from Chainsaw Man playing with a red ball, another shark tries to take his toy away but he scares them off. Then a bigger shark comes in trying to sneak but then comes back to attack Pochita.
