Hi!

Salutations! For those of y’all who don’t know me my name is Izzy, and I am a soon to be graduate from both Freestyle Academy, and Mountain View High School. I’m also very excited to be enrolled into San Diego State University in the fall to study Sociology as well as hopefully minoring in Zoology! I’m hoping to also on the side continue my love for art and writing, and maybe even use it to help the people I work with in the future (trying to incorporate art therapy when talking to kids about things they having experienced in foster care if I were to become a social worker for example). My goal career wise is to just try to help take care of people’s mental health, and make sure that they are in a physically and mentally safe environment.

Project 1:

One of my favorite photos that I have captured:)

Over the last two years at Freestyle Academy, there has been many many MANY photo blog posts. But I think honestly this one is my favorites. By just adjusting some of the saturation and a few other properties in Photoshop the rainbow as well as all the properties in this photo look absolutely perfect in my opinion. Also the mood of how everything was when I took this photo really matched with it. It was after a long trip, and a rather personal and deep conversation that left a kind of silence in the air for a while. But then when it began to rain, it cheered my mom and I up (even though my mom absolutely hates the rain). The rain and the sudden cheer up in our moods, and the long journey all made this photo just hit different to me. I’m very happy I caught it:)

Project 2:

Sculpting of a human skull through Zbrush

This project technically isn’t exactly a project. More like a practice run for the bigger actual project within Animation. And yet, I love it so dearly. This was one of our first trail runs with a software called Zbrush. It allows you to sculpt intricate textures and details onto 3D models for animating. And one of the first things we were told to do, is to create a human skull from scratch (create a detailed skull with nothing but a sphere). This is probably one of my favorites because 1) I have always wanted to learn how to draw skulls right because they are my kryptonite, art wise. And 2) I was struggling so bad on this project. It was looking a lot more like a pig then a skull if I am being honest. It took a lot of trying and re-trying, and starting over along with advice from my amazing teacher for me to finally get this outcome. And I am honestly really proud of it. I worked hard on making it and I think it turned out beautifully.

Project 3:

Rough sketch for Ivanna’s graduation pins

The last of my many projects that I wish to share with all of you is the pins for Ivanna. As some of you may know, as of May 2021, I lost one of my closest friends to suicide. We were never able to truly mourn or process his passing. Most teachers didn’t even acknowledge his death and continued with classes the day everyone found out like it was a normal day. We as MVHS students wanted to remember him. So, with a team of Ivanna’s close friends we planned on have blue flower pins for graduation to remember Ivanna. Blue was one of his favorite colors, and we ended up deciding on “forget me nots” for flowers. Even though Ivanna 1000% loved a type of flower, that was the type of thing he would refuse to tell anyone. I included this sketch in my Zenith, as it was one of the 25 that I drew. But I feel like this one specifically deserves a little more time in the sun. Ivanna was a very complex and beautiful human being. And I miss him more than anything. As of right now we have over 120 people who want a pin. Each of the Seniors who requested one will wear it to graduation so he will be there in spirit and be remembered.
