Explorations

How can you find, explore, and/or expand your passion?”

During the explorations unit all the juniors at freestyle got to choose a passion project of their choosing to expand their skillset on said topic which compare to our skills of the 21st century.

My specific Explorations project was on the making of an enticing and visually appealing product commercial. I chose this topic to help me improve on multiple different skills number one of which being product commercials which is a good skill to have. Other skills add making visually compelling shots, lighting, editing using Adobe after effects, learning to use a camera slider, and enticing the viewer. I actually believe that my project is helping me learn all of the skills of the 21st century other than Teaming and Collaboration and Social and Civic Responsibility.

I chose to make my Commercial on Yoo-Hoo chocolate milk. I completed this project in multiple different steps.

  • Gathering information to make the film and grow my understanding
  • Gathering materials I would need for this film IE. chocolate, paper backdrops, filming equipment, lights, and Yoo-hoo bottles
  • Started to film my shots with what I have and pull them up on the computer to see how they looked
  • corrected a-lot of those shots and shot the rest of what I needed
  • started using After effects to cut out and animate the clips
  • found music to use
  • pieced together my film in Premiere Pro.

For our final product, we had to show it off in a slide show presentation! Here it is!

As also seen in the shared slideshow here is my final product Commercial!

The Yoo-hoo Product commercial!

I valued it a lot from this project! Mostly the experience I gained through more shot types, making visually appealing shots, and using new equipment!

Our ProTool Interface

For this product, My partner and I, Eric Shachal, made a piece using pro tools that I really enjoyed. We used instruments digitally that I normally wouldn’t be able to play! I hope you enjoy!
