Reflections

The reflections unit gave me the chance to analyze myself as an individual and piece together my identity. From writing the personal essay in English which I’d later send off to colleges, to putting together a personal Mandala. I put together everything I knew about myself into the projects of this unit.

Mandala

The Mandala project had students creating mandalas using Adobe Illustrator. It was ultimately up to the student to decide what to represent in their mandala.

Artist Statement: My final Mandala was laser engraved on an acrylic stand, because I really like stylish light sources like chandeliers or lamps. So to capture the same feel those have, I made a light acrylic stand for the Mandala and chose to take the photo in a purple light to give it a “majestic” or “mysterious” feel. And since my Mandala reflects my world building passion, I also felt purple goes best with the story I am referencing in the mandala.

Photoshop Art

This section features artwork created using Adobe Photoshop, consisting of Pastel Painting, Watercolor Painting, and the Watercolor effect.

Pastel Painting

For this project I replicated an image of the Attack on Titan character, Armin. Because I am still getting the hang of photoshop, I wanted to try using a familiar image to replicate and practice. I think I nailed my cell-shading like artstyle with this project, however I do believe I could make the lines more straight and less jagged. Nonetheless I’m impressed with out well I produced the image.

Watercolor Painting

For this project I made a scene from my world that I am using for world building in English. I chose to make it rainy since I haven’t done a depiction of my world in the rain yet. I really like how watercolor adds this sort of texture to the strokes that can work with any texture and being able to shade by adding numerous strokes at once.

Surreal Art (Fragmentary Anarchy)

For this project I made a symbolic representation of Yokimoto City, the main location in the world I designed for my World Building project. Because the world has been overtaken by celebrity influence and culture, there’s lots of public and lively events, and that’s what the crowd and light show represent. The clock with the twelve elements represent the system that has corrupted society, and the people are worshipping the system. The clock represents adrenaline, and the anxiety among the masses to be one of the greats. The fiery filter represents how corrupted the celebrity system is, as it has no structure, making the celebrity system itself very anarchy like, granting anyone access to the upper social hierarchy.

Animation Projects

I had chosen to switch to the Animation class for this school year, and I’d say it was the right choice for me, as the projects in the class are much more in line with what I want to do in the future. I will be showcasing both 3D character models I made since one of them was more to get more experience on making 3D characters.
