Narrative Visual Perspective in Digital Media

In digital media we covered a number of different tools, like photoshop, after effects, and designing a real world object. And all the projects we produced using those tools could have a connections to our narrative projects.

Funny Photoshop

In Digital Media we covered using masking to composite images together. As these images are impossible to make without compositing. They use massive scales, massive distances.
I used Photos I had taken for this project, but looking back I could have done more using photos from google. Overall the results where pretty good.

Here are the photoshop files behind the compositions.

Motion Graphics

We also learned to use motion graphics in Aftereffects. Which is like the photoshop compositions but with video. I put together a simple silly video with ping pong.

Overall most of the work behind this video was learning the tools to make it, so the video it’s self is very small.

Multi-Layered Art Project

The Muli-Layered Art project covered producing a 3D object using 2D layers. Where we would design in illustator the vectors of multiple layers of art. Then those vectors would be used to cut out real physical pieces of wood with the patterns. Then the layers of wood would be glued or layered together to create a final artwork.
I got inspired by the idea of a looking into a swarm of fish, where the fish get smaller the farther away they are. So in illustator I created this cutting template.

Then after cutting and construction the final result looked like this.

Here is a video showing the construction of the final artwork, and showing off the result.

Here is a video created in After Effects to show off the different layers in abstract space. After Effects here allows for alot of flexibility on how the artwork is shown, as it dose’nt use a real physical camera or artwork. The whole video is digital.

Overall this project was pretty fun. The best part being having the final result be a real physical object.
