Narrative Visual Perspective in English

In English we wrote a argumentative research paper about a topic of our choice. I covered the topic of fluoride in water supplies, which turned out to be a large topic. As it has connections to health arguments, economic arguments, and ethical arguments. I believe my final conclusion was that it is helpful for fluoride to be in water supplies, but also that it isn’t that big of a deal. As the reason fluoride in water supplies is a topic, is because it is the one that is supplemented, if copper were to be supplemented, or if vitamin C were to be supplemented there would be massive arguments about those instead. But it has been a long time since I made the essay, I am likely forgetting details on it.

A secondary project which crossed over into Digital Media was the Surreal Composition. Which was a image created using photoshop to create a composition which represents something about the research paper. The image I made is a planet fighting a raid of vegetables. As it connects to my topic of fluoride and fighting against something that is meant to help.

Artist Statement:
There were two parts behind creating an image of earth fighting off the Veggies. One, it’s funny. Two, I’m writing a research paper about the use of Fluoride in water supplies.
About the funny part, it’s funny because it’s ludicrous for the whole earth to be fighting space vegetables from a magic portal. It’s also common for people to be told to eat their vegetables, so a artwork about not eating the vegetables and even fighting them off comes with Irony.
About the use of Fluoride in water supplies. An argument against it I found is that it removes somebody’s choice on if they want medication. And from all my research Fluoride at the correct levels is ok, but are the benefits worth the removal of choice? If you do remove it, what about the people who can’t afford to buy other sources of Fluoride? If we’re putting Fluoride in the water should we also be supplementing other vital vitamins? So the artwork shows some of those arguments in a silly way with the earth fighting off the vegetables.

The compositions Photoshop File.

Overall the English projected ended up being more work then expected. As the number of layers of arguments on fluoride to look at kept appearing. And I even switched by perspective 2 times which slowed the project more. But in the end I got a solid essay with sources and a argument structure.
