Welcome to my Experimental website! This was our last unit at Freestyle Academy as juniors! For this unit we combined all of our skills to create an illustration in design, an animation in web, a new website, music in the studio, and poetry in english. For Web and Design classes, we continued to usethe adobe suite. With applications including Dreamweaver CS5, Photoshop CS5, and Illustrator CS5. For music production we learned a combination of Reason 5, and Pro Tools LE.
For the poetry we created it in English class.
my theme was the abstract in human emotions and relations
Out of high school
Living with her father
She was a pregnant teenager
She needed support
Her rich ex boyfriend had none
She was broken down
Her father had nothing
And her mother was gone
Selling herself on a street corner
A baby was born
A beautiful girl
She would need support
It was once strong,
Everyone knew them
They were ‘the couple’
Holding Hands
At every football game
They were ‘the couple’
Prom King and Queen
Homecoming King and Queen
They were ‘the couple’
High School Sweethearts
Married for 20 years
They were ‘the couple’
He met someone else
She had no idea
They were ‘the couple’
The kids split up
Divorce papers signed
They were ‘the couple’.
Soft, cold, and shallow,
Its statement while being hollow
Is nothing very desirable
It provokes misery
Maybe a flashback
A warm touching memory
Perhaps an empty depressing one
Coping with ones thoughts
Can be contrasted with wrestling with God
Can you see,
Through the eyes of others?
The hate, despair, even mockery
For what apparent reason?
To rise to a higher level
To elevate yourself in front of someone else
To lower expectations
What if you turned around,
And looked through the eyes of another
Would you like to see?
Would you see yourself?
Maybe a child
Would your actions change?
Or might you be the same individual
Would you be an adult,
One that still hasn’t grown up
That still wears the same blue jeans,
And collared shirt, with stripes
Red, Black, and White
What if you could see,
through the eyes of others?
Would your opinions be clouded?
Is it possible, to fairly asses yourself,
When someone else is constantly doing it for you?
What is a broken poem?
Is it one that cannot rhyme,
Or descriptions that are abstract
That chase the tail of time
A broken poem is one that cannot feel, or touch, or hear
A broken poem is reluctant to fight, and so it fears
What is a broken poem?
A poem that cannot sense
It tries too hard, to accomplish
Why must it be so tense?
What is a broken poem?
Is it one that cannot see
Compare it to an old forest,
As a stump comes from a tree
Behold!
He is cold,
Told,
And Unsold
But a hold!
Maybe oversold,
(don’t use)His emotions are sometimes uncontrolled
He strikes merely to find gold,
He would never scold,
Don’t worry he’s bold
And bowled

For our experimental unit in design we were instructed to create a project that experimented with most of the skills we had learned throughout the year. Our project was theme-based, and we had to base it off a theme we had used previously during the year. I am going to explore the feeling of astonishment in response to changes in time.
My project is based on a carpe diem theme. Carpe diem or, "seize the day," relates to a theme a conveyed in another freestyle unit. The theme was, "live every second as if its your last." Our theme for this project had to be based on the theme from a previous project, and I felt that it fit nicely. The piece of art I am hoping to create time portal. In the middle of the alleyway there is a door that is a time portal. In the door in a photo of the beach, showing the change from an urban area to a beach. Two different settings. Showing the time change in nature setting, I want to have half of the image be a photo, while the other half an illustration created on illustrator.
This project serves as a culminating piece because of all the things we have learned this year. I used a lot of skills in photography and photoshop that we have learned throughout this year. My hope is that this piece is my strongest project of the year.
For our animation we used the adobe application Flash CS5. We based the animation off of one of our poems we created in english. The poem I chose was one that was based around death. Its a very general poem, but It had a great core that both my English teacher and I really liked. I chose the images to accent the poem because they were simple, easy to relate, and helped the poem to flow.
