Podcast

For this project, we were challenged to create a podcast on any topic we wanted, adding in sound effects and using our editing skills to make it more professional. For a long time, I struggled on knowing what to make my podcast about. Eventually, I settled on having an interview-centered podcast and decided to interview Anna Brown. Anna Brown is an 18-year-old who lives in Kauai, Hawaii and is the writer of the musical His Story the Musical. His Story is a musical about the life of Jesus and is composed of 30 songs that go through his life and various stories in the Bible. Part of what makes this musical so unique is the fact that it is written in a pop/hip-hop style. Anna took a lot of inspiration from the Broadway hit, Hamilton, which revolutionized what a musical could be on an international level.

When producing the podcast, I used ProTools to edit the interview clip and to add in music. I added in fades and changed the volume of each piece to ensure it flowed together and it wasn’t obvious where clips had been cut or put together. Here’s a picture of my ProTools session.

When creating the cover art for my podcast, I wanted the cover to be simple and relate to my topic. As my podcast is all about the pioneers in various industries and fields, who are innovators and constantly coming up with new ideas, I decided to draw a lightbulb. I figured that lightbulbs were very common symbols utilized to convey the concept of a new idea coming to mind. I created the cover in Adobe Illustrator. Here’s a picture of the cover.
