Hello friend! Welcome to my self-portrait website. When creating this website, everything was made to answer the question “Who Am I?” which is one of the toughest questions for any human being to answer because we are all constantly trying to figure it out. My website attempts to answer the question by presenting what I have personally found to represent my personality and virtues. To start off, I wanted to provide insight into the way I think, and I did so in my personal poem. The statement of my poem is “The Hunt is Everlasting” which is about my ambition and desire for the things that are important to me and the way that I obtain those things. Its purpose is to show an underlying quality in me because I don’t tend to show that side of my personality to even those that know me very well. The buttons on my website are a mix of two ideas. One of them is the grizzly bear which is the symbol I used in my media presentation and my personal essay. The second idea is when you hover over the buttons, they change to different neon colors, which represents an “explosion of color” which is the basis for the first half of my diptych. I used the same “explosion of color” idea for my background photo to emphasize that idea but also to connect with the rave culture that I associate myself with because I like to DJ and produce electronic music.

My favorite pieces of this website are my illustration, my personal poem, and the webgems. I think these three pieces do a good job at explaining who I am by capturing who I am in words, in picture, and what I like to do during my free time. I really enjoy using Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop now that I have learned the basics to using them. My favorite tools to use in Illustrator would be the pen tool because of how versatile it is and the gradient tool because of the combination of colors you can create. I have a lot of fun using these programs and am excited to expand on my knowledge of these programs because the creative possibilities are endless.

Creating my first real website was frustrating and confusing at times but in the end I can honestly say, this website is something I am really proud of. Although it may not compare to a website made by a professional, what is important to me is the things that I have learned after having to go through all the steps of constructing a website. I have a newfound respect for website designers as this is no easy job, which is why I am so proud of this website. It has definitely been the most challenging project I have had to complete here at Freestyle but has also been the most rewarding.

The Hunt is Everlasting

In English class, we were asked to write a poem that revolved around the personal statement that we chose. This poem was written to show a side of my personality as well as some of the things that are important to me. Overall, the point of the assignment was to show who I am. In WebAudio, we took the poem and made a digital picture that contained the poem and a recording of us reading our poems.
