One of our projects in Digital Media this year was to create EDM music. We used the application reason to create EDM (or electronic dance music). This process gave me an appreciation for EDM music and how difficult it can be to create. Below is four bars of EDM music from everyone in all of the senior class to create one epic song.
One of my favorite projects so far was making a Mandala using illustrator. Visually, I valued the beauty of repetition in this project. There is something extremely satisfying about one object continuing in a circle and I found the entire exercise soothing. The Mandala comes from the Sanskrit word circle and is often looked at as meaning wholeness. The sophistication of something so simple is fascinating, and part of why I loved this project. In East Asia, Tibetan monks make incredibly detailed Mandalas out of sand and then, after hours of this labor, they sweep them away. This ritual represents the impermanence of existence and how everything is in a constant state of motion and change. This message really resonated with me, as I am going through significant changes in my life being a senior. The coming year is going to bring lots of change, and this project helped remind me that nothing is permanent and change is a natural part of life and something that can be beautiful.
After creating the Mandala above, we made a short video using after affects in order to show how it was created. The video is below:
One of the projects we were asked to complete this year was our freedom project. This project was true to its name as we had the freedom to pick a topic of our choosing. I decided to partner up with Makeda and make a public service announcement for STD’s for a contest. Our video is below:
