I was staying with my family in LA and there was this massive balcony that had a sharp point towards the sea. And when I saw this, I immediately started thinking of how I can use them as really cool leading lines in the shot. But when I brought my sister out to the balcony, I realized it was very hard to get the railing to lead exactly to her. So in order to get the leading lines close to my subject, I had to lean over the fence with a 100 foot drop and tilt the camera to capture the entire large wood piece on the left. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I think the leading lines work decently. The left one doesn&#8217;t exactly go straight towards her, but her hand on the railing allows your eyes to somewhat move along towards the subject. One thing I don&#8217;t love about this photo is the colors, I think the color of the wood pillar is a more saturated version of my subject&#8217;s skin tone, which kind of washes her out. And the leading lines don&#8217;t lead to my subject as effectively as I&#8217;d like, but what this experience taught me is the importance of planning my photos specifically for a space that I&#8217;m working with and considering how color and geography will effect the final image.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Almost Leading Lines I&#8217;m proud to say this is one of the more dangerous shots I&#8217;ve taken.
