Humor

Welcome to Lesseb! #LessebLove

In our Freestyle Academy English class, we had a Humor Unit. We learned about techniques comedians use and analyzed sample works of humorists, such as Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut.

The finale to the unit was creating our own Humor Project. Initially, I planned to work independently and do a presentation as a glorified stuntman (who is actually not that great at their job). I would’ve played clips of movies I was “featured” in. Over spring break, I found a greater interest in collaborating with two of my peers to create a slideshow presentation about a small country, Lesseb.

In my initial draft idea for the project, I researched laurel & Hardy and James Acaster.

After transforming the idea to be about the country, Lesseb, I continued to have James Acaster as inspiration because of his absurd humor and the physical acting he brings into his performance.

Our live presentation to the class.

I’ve found this project to be very fulfilling because it encouraged my team to get creative with the lore building of Lesseb. We enjoyed working together and were successful in completing our project. Even after the presentation, our senior class still quotes “Lesseb Love” and sings the song the shared. I’m happy to have the presentation recorded so I can look back on it.
