Introduction
The Reflections unit was meant to makes us reflect on ourselves and our core values. In English we wrote a Personal Statement that we could use for our college applications. In Film we made a video essay that represented how we think. Finally in Digital Media, we made a mandala and core values video in After Effects. During this unit I learned how much my culture means to me. Before I thought that my culture was cool, but I didn’t really care for it. It wasn’t until the English “Essence Objects” assignments that I realized that “streichholzschechlichen” was an important thing to me.
Digital Media
Core Values
The Core Values project was meant to make us reflect on what was important to us. My core values were: passion, active listening, helping others, empathy, kindness, activism and story telling.
Mandala
The Mandala project was meant to make us think about how we feel and what items represent us. We used illustrator to make the mandala template and then used it to make a mandala template and then used that to create our mandalas.
For this project we were told to make a mandala that represented us and our personality. At first I drew a standard mandala design for the inner section. On the outside I decided to draw a bunny and some cats because animals take up so much of my life. I foster kittens regularly and have now had almost 150 of them and I fostered bunnies once so I decided that I would bring them into my mandala. This mandala represents the influence that the surrounding world has on me.
For the colored mandala I took my original Black and White Mandala and decided to change the whole thing to be colorful. I though of each section I had and chose color based off what I thought was the best color for that specific thing. When creating a lot of the center I tried to make sure the colors didn’t clash with each other, whereas at the end I just chose what I wanted. I feel like this represents how I usually think when creating a work of art, i start very clean and specific, but at the end I let go.
English
As seniors we have to apply to colleges. In english we did the common app personal statement because Mr. Greco wanted us to be able to write about ourselves in a meaningful and effective way. For my essay I decided to focus on personal growth and my culture.

For the Reflections Project we first started by getting back into the film groove by learning about efficiency by making a film in one period. The we started exploring how we think and what is important to us and put it into our reflection video essays.
