Protools Interface

Artist Statement

For this project, we produced a choir recording using the sound booth at Freestyle Academy, using professional audio equipment and software such as ProTools. One of the main challenges we faced was helping the singers stay relaxed, as it’s easy to get nervous and miss the timing during recording. Over time, the choir became more comfortable and familiar with the procedure, making the process less nerve-wracking and easier to stay on tempo.

Throughout the process, we gained valuable experience using ProTools, including techniques like applying reverb and limiting certain sounds to ensure the recording sounded clean.

We are most proud of our collaboration with the MVHS choir students. Working together not only created a memorable experience but also allowed us to practice and grow in a professional setting.

Reflection

Overall, this project was much more exciting and while still difficult, easier than I expected. Thanks to Mr. Flo, it was easy to understand what we needed to do, and since we had spent so much time practicing in ProTools beforehand, editing wasn’t too difficult. I had a fun time working with Ynez as they were just as clueless as I was, yet we managed to figure things out and make it work together.

Thank you to everyone who helped us out with this project!
