Podcasting

For this project, we had to create a podcast. We brainstormed ideas, listened to other podcasts to analyze how they captured the attention of the listeners and how they kept them engaged. We could work individually or in small groups. Once we had the idea fleshed out, we outlined the general idea of what the podcast episode would look like, and began to produce it. After producing it, we edited it within Adobe Audition or Protools, and created the cover art for the podcast.

I decided to work with two of my classmates, Loren and Katelyn for this project. For our podcast, we decided to discuss movies, ideally a movie that at least one of us haven’t seen yet. We decided on a time and place to watch The Princess Bride, a movie that two of the three of us have seen, and a “classic” for our generation. We recorded our initial expectations of the movie, the introduction of the podcast, and the summary of the movie before we watched it, so we could have genuine expectations that didn’t sound scripted. We also recorded ourselves during the movie, to get the live reactions to some of the most iconic lines. After we watched the movie, we recorded our reactions and our opinions of the movie. We also put in “sponsors” of the podcast, most of them being jokes and simply there to be funny. These “sponsors” include Freestyle Academy, Joseph Watson, and The Worst Podcast Ever by Reid Shimabukuro and Adam Galles.

We split up to workload among ourselves. Loren took on editing the podcast, while Katelyn handled the cover art. I created the short little musical transitions between segments.
