Product Logo & Label Design

For this project, we were tasked to come up with a product brand and create a logo, label, and advertisement for the product.

This is my moodboard, which often serves as a general idea/brainstorm for what the artist plans to design. I incorporated a color scheme, what types of advertising techniques I planned to use, and sample photos for the mood I wanted to associate with my brand.

Artist Statement:

For the Product Logo/Label Design project, I decided to center my brand around smoothies and juices. As seen in my label, my product is a satsuma-strawberry-ginger juice blend which caters to a wide audience of people who are interested in consuming a healthy, nutritious, and tasty drink. The name of my brand, “Skweezit” refers to squeezing fresh fruits and vegetables into a bottle, and my slogan is “freshly squeezed happiness” which highlights the fresh and positive vibes of the brand.

If we were to do a magazine advertisement, I would appeal to customers through Logos and Pathos and would do this by using association techniques like showing people that they will be healthier through consuming the product. In addition, I would have a promotion code which might incentivize people to purchase the drink. The design of my magazine advertisement would be someone riding their bike with a basket of fruits and vegetables popping out. I would include nutritional facts in order to create transparency with customers so that they know the true contents of the product.

Since I am still fairly new to Illustrator, a lot of this project was experimentation in order to create my desired final product design. I went through many revision processes using the feedback from Ms. Parkinson and my peers. I was surprisingly challenged with settling on one cohesive color scheme, which I believe I accomplished in the end. I learned how to create a layered shadow underneath my splash and make it pop out while also keeping it realistic. Overall, I really enjoyed this project as it allowed me to experiment and create something for a product that I was passionate about.

Movie Poster

For this project, we were tasked to come up with a movie plot and create a movie poster for it.

Artist Statement:

“Free Falling” is a children’s fiction motion picture film. The story is about two children who are in a plane that is soon to crash, however, rather than falling down the sky, the children are magically gravitated up into deep space. Like magnets, the children repel and float apart. However, when they land above an undiscovered planet, they are brought back together and go on adventures, obstacles, and discover magical things. This movie is a cinematic, positive, and uplifting story.

This movie poster was created using Adobe Illustrator. To create the children floating in the sky, I began with using the pen tool to construct the outline, and used the paintbrush tool to fill it in and add softer edges. Using the shape builder tool, I created the globe below them. With a watercolor paint brush, I layered strokes to create the purple mountaintop. I created duplicates and used gradients to give it a mixed gradient effect. I added the poster border using the paintbrush tool and used a watercolor brush to create the textured line effect.
