Humor

The Humor Project was one of my personal favorite projects. It was a project where we analyzed different comedians and tried to replicate or use their comedic techniques to make something funny. I personally studied Ryan Higa, a hit youtuber that revolutionized the early stages of YouTube skits. He uses absurd and caricature humor to accentuate the effect of his humor. I really enjoyed watching him as a kid. In the skit we filmed we used his absurd props from his inspiration. I also studied Eric Andre, a hit comedian that also revolutionized the comedy industry. He uses extreme amounts of absurd humor; his humor tends to be way more extreme and over the top. He is constantly pushing the boundaries of what is comedy and pushing it too far. He inspired our project to use absurd humor.

The second part of the project was creating the script. This was a little difficult, we wanted to create a structured way to film it, but not so structured that it wouldn’t constrict our creativity when filming it. We left the script pretty loose in terms of direct dialogue quotes, and more idea based. This allowed us to be creative and shoot what we thought was genuinely funny throughout the filming process.

We edited our project with Aftereffects and Premier Pro.

Filming the Humor project was extremely fun, it was my favorite project in all of English. My group and I really just wanted to have a good time filming it, this led to a great flow of creativity and a positive work environment. In the film we put on caricatures for our characters to make it more entertaining. I out on a silly accent as the barber which made filming extremely fun. We ended up going off script a little bit, but it made the project come out so much better.
