Aside from the fact that it tastes good, I feel that boba helped me become more secure in my Identity. When I first moved to America, I went through the process of assimilation and strived to become as &#8220;American&#8221; as I could. Because I didn&#8217;t see many representation of asian culture in mainstream media, I didn&#8217;t see my asian identity as anything worth celebrating in the American environment. When boba became popular, it was cool seeing something from asian culture being popularized in the western world.
