You’re favorite Freestyle duo is back with another project! I love that Freestyle English class ends the year with a laugh in the humor unit! This unit brought me so much joy and I loved studying and making jokes with my classmates and partner Ava.
We started by reading the satire novel Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut and studying different comedic tools such as black humor, puns, call-backs, satire, and so much more. Then we were assigned to write a humorist study comparing and contrasting the humor techniques of two humorists.
After our humorist study, Ava and I refined our project idea and began the production stage by writing our script. Our vision was a satirical video that would parody Youtube creators, specifically targeting children’s content and Youtuber apology videos. In our script we included lots of exaggerated reactions and absurd humor.
Once we had our script it was time to film! I know what you are wondering, no, we did not actually film at 3:03am. We are really good at special effects. (Actually, we just changed the time on my phone). Filming this project was so fun because I could film on my phone since that is what Youtubers do. It was nice to not be focused on the quality of each shot and just focus on making our project as funny as possible.
