My name is Mia Bassett and from 2020-2022 I was a student at Freestyle Academy studying Film. I have always had a passion for making videos, so attending Freestyle has been something I looked forward to since freshman year. Freestyle gave me a unique opportunity to channel my creativity into school through Film, Digital Media, and English. I am so grateful for the resources Freestyle provided me, and the opportunity to learn digital art programs.

During my time in high school outside of Freestyle, I was the webmaster for Mountain View High School’s ASB, a member of the Mock Trial team, a producer of TEDxMountainViewHighSchool, and a swimmer for the varsity swim team. During the summer I coached swimming for my local summer league team and worked at Girl Scout Camp as a counselor. I love spending time in nature, writing, traveling, and watching films (especially documentaries)!

Joining Freestyle was the best decision I made in high school. It helped me find my passion for filmmaking which I will be pursuing in college. Coming to Freestyle from Mountain View High School did not feel like class, it felt like a time to work on creative projects with my friends and mentors. I will carry all the lessons I learned at Freestyle with me for the rest of my life!

Hi!
