Introduction

The purpose of this website is to present the work I have done on the Profile Project.

The Profile Project is based around a 5 page profile we wrote about a member of our community who has had a significant impact. To write our profile we interviewed our profile star, two other people, and did research into an issue related to our star.

In our Design class, we used InDesign to create a professional magazine layout, and Google Presentations to create a presentation about our experience. In Web/Audio, we used AfterEffects to make 30 second commercials to interest people in our stars, and DreamWeaver and jQuery to design websites to host all of our content.

Michael Schuh

The subject of my Profile is Michael Schuh, a robotics mentor involved with many different youth programs, including FIRST Lego League, Botball, and FIRST Robotics Competition

This project was challenging on multiple levels. Not only did I as a first year senior have to learn a significant amount of new technology, we also had to keep track of all the different parts of the project being worked on simultaneously, while at the same time making sure everything stayed visually consistent.

This commercial was produced using Adobe AfterEffects. To move around the parts of my commercial, and create the illusion of depth, I laid out all my text in 3D space then used a camera with depth of field enabled to move between different sections. The movement of individual words or pictures was done by hand or by using animators.

Magazine

In English, our task was to write a five page profile piece on our profile star. To do this, we conducted a series of interviews without our star and two secondary sources. In addition, we did research into a relevant issue.

After finishing our articles, we took them into InDesign to make a professional magazine layout to showcase our articles and pictures.

For my piece, I tried to mix the technological with the friendly by using gears, geometric shapes, and softer edges. My color scheme consisted of golden-yellow, navy-blue, and light-green. The gold and the navy invoke the strength of primary colors, while the gold is also the main color of Mountain View Robotics FRC Team 971 and navy is indicative of responsibility and stability.

Presentation
Another project we worked on in Design was a presentation in Google Presentations about our experience with the Profile Project. I focused on my experience dealing with the integrated project structure of freestyle as a first year senior, and attempted to keep it as visually consistent with the rest of my projects as possible.
