Welcome to my Portfolio Website! Here are what I believe to be some of my best works that I&#8217;ve created both in and out of Freestyle in these past two years. This was our final project ever at Freestyle, and we got to choose our own project and self-direct the entire process. I chose to learn how to use the free <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1a831c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Unity Engine<\/mark> along with the <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1a831c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">3D modeling skills<\/mark> I learned senior year to create a<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-black-color\"> <\/mark><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1a831c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">3D mini game<\/mark>. My game centers around a young astronaut who&#8217;s landed on Mars. They explore the terrain around them and discover the history of what occurred in the times before they arrived. This project came with lots of obstacles in debugging code, figuring out collider issues, and more, but I&#8217;m glad that I was able to push and persevere through them. <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#1a831c\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Game design<\/mark> has always been something I&#8217;m passionate about, as it allows me to combine my passion for both art and computer science.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Animated Documentary (Potential)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another project I&#8217;m incredibly proud of is my <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#662189\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Documentary Project<\/mark> from junior year &#8211; specifically my <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#662189\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Animated Documentary<\/mark>, titled &#8220;<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#662189\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Potential<\/mark>&#8220;. My documentary project told the story of my dad, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#662189\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Ray Leihe<\/mark>, and his unique perspective on the career ladder and definitions of success. In my animated documentary, I chose to focus specifically on a past mentor of his, <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#662189\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Michael Freeman<\/mark>, that jumpstarted the beginning of his career and continues to have a lasting impression on him and his perspectives about the career ladder. I feel like my Animated Documentary is effective not due to the illustrations I created, but because its message and <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#662189\" class=\"has-inline-color\">storytelling <\/mark>leaves a lasting and heartfelt <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#662189\" class=\"has-inline-color\">impact <\/mark>on viewers. It was a really great experience being able to share the final product with my dad.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Explorations (2D Video Game)<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to my Zenith project, I also made a <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#52a8b9\" class=\"has-inline-color\">2D video game<\/mark> for the final project of my junior year! This was also a self-directed project that we got to choose on our own. This project was what launched my passion for<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#52a8b9\" class=\"has-inline-color\"> game design<\/mark>, as it made me realize that I could combine both my academic and creative side. I used skills from my <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#52a8b9\" class=\"has-inline-color\">AP Computer Science<\/mark> class to code a simple adventure game using <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#52a8b9\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Java<\/mark>, and then drew game art elements at Freestyle. My story centers around a young boy named Timmy, who yearns to leave his islands to go to outer space. The player completes quests in order to help make his dream a reality! I had to make sure all the <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#52a8b9\" class=\"has-inline-color\">colors <\/mark>aligned with each other to look cohesive, as well as connect all my code with the boundaries of the illustrated elements. Overall, my <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#52a8b9\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Explorations<\/mark> project was my first large, self-directed project, and I&#8217;m very proud of how it turned out.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">3D Character Design<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">During our senior year in Animation, we learned how to model and texture<mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#9f1d1d\" class=\"has-inline-color\"> 3D models<\/mark>! This was very exciting for me, as I&#8217;ve always loved making 3D elements and environments. I chose to create a mouse named <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#9f1d1d\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Celeste<\/mark>. Although my character&#8217;s clothing made rigging and animation a bit difficult, I still like what I was able to create and the <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#9f1d1d\" class=\"has-inline-color\">color scheme<\/mark> I gave her. Many of the skills I used in SLAM were ones I learned at Freestyle &#8211; specifically, how to use <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#58a4ea\" class=\"has-inline-color\">Adobe InDesign<\/mark>. As a part of this organization, I&#8217;ve created many creative graphic articles that have been published in our 5th and 6th issues. It&#8217;s an amazing feeling being able to see your own original work being published into a physical entity. Looking back on the very first article I created in <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#58a4ea\" class=\"has-inline-color\">InDesign<\/mark> (my Documentary article), I can definitely see how much I&#8217;ve improved my skills and grown into my own style\/aesthetic. Being in SLAM has not only helped me to develop my <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#58a4ea\" class=\"has-inline-color\">graphic design skills<\/mark>, but also helped me to become a <mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#58a4ea\" class=\"has-inline-color\">better leader<\/mark>. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Introduction Hi there!
