About Me

My name is Noam. Like Noah, but really not so. I’ve done computer science for ages and I was a senior at Freestyle Academy taking design for the first time. There’s always effort because I value what I do. I try to stay present so that there will be something to remember. Basically, I completely intended to make the most of this great opportunity that is Freestyle. I think I was pretty successful.

Outside of school I am a musician and I also code for fun because it’s something I suppose I will be stuck doing forever. After Freestyle I’m majoring in computer science at the University of Washington.

I expect myself to invest and stay organized, staying true to both my commitments and also myself. What I do should bring high quality over just quantity. That’s how I can look back and say I did well.

I am extremely grateful for the Freestyle experience. I got to use so many cool things for periods of time where I actually gained competence and efficiency. It’s astounding to me that I was able to get in the zone in the classroom because previously there wouldn’t really be time, but the school is really just made to try and get the best out of its students and that’s just awesome.

Art Reflection

We got to go to SF MOMA at the beginning of the year. There we looked for art that left us awestruck so we could share that awe with everyone else. I’m very grateful for the trip, it made me feel more a part of Freestyle immediately, and the museum is always very high quality. The work that ended up having the biggest impact on me was the dots infinity room, because it actually wasn’t my first time in there. I was lagging behind my friends and taking my time in the museum, so I was alone. The contrast between the first visit (with my family) and my second (alone) gave me a new perspective on the work that may be different from some other reflections on it, and the second visit was much more introspective.

After writing my reflection, I shortened it over a few revisions to pack the words in English class. I then took it in my Digital Media class and narrated it over music and photos I took. I used Adobe After Effects for the third time for this project, which meant I felt a little bit more comfortable. I used some effects on text matching certain words in the script for emphasis, as well as trying to show the effect the room had on me through where I positioned the images and the glitch effect at the end. This was also my first time using Adobe Audition, but that was limited to normalizing the volume.
