Introduction

¡Bienvenidos to my Profile Website that is fully dedicated to one of my previous Spanish teachers, Señor Morgan! For this project, we were asked to find someone we found interesting and create a fully detailed description of their life and importance. We completed this task by creating a commercial, magazine, and photogallery that futures our individual. I acquired all of my information by conducting interviews with him and his family members, all of whose bios I have included at the bottom of this website. Enjoy!

To begin our project, we were asked to create a commercial for our profile star. We did this by using a rather complicated program called After Effects, where we created a 2-D animation to represent the importance of our person. After Effects offers a ton of different effects, animations and things to transform your photos, and I used that ultimately to my advantage. My favorite effect was Fade In and Fade Out as I felt it gave a settling transition from scene to scene. I also zoomed in on subjects and made it so you could through them by constantly changing the x, y and opacity values. I would twist and turn words to give extra meaning to a subject by changing the rotation and positioning as well. Overall, I had a lot of fun making the commercial in After Effects, and now that we're learning 3-D, I have the potential to create bigger and better projects!

Magazine

The magazine was the first assignment of the year in Design class where we learned a bunch of different design techniques and principles and implemented them into our magazine deisgn. The magazine is about the profile star that we chose in English class. We wrote a profile article about them and then used that article as the content for our magazines.

I used Adobe's InDesign to organize and design the pages of the magazine. I also used Adobe Photoshop to edit the photos that were put into the magazine and Adobe Illustrator to create the design elements found behind the text as well as the overall color scheme of the magazine. Since I first came to Freestyle, I have gotten more and more comfortable using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator but InDesign still provides it's challenges.

Through the process of creating the magazine, I have come to realize how many little design elements there are in any given magazine and how I don't really even realize that they are there. After designing a magazine, I understand how important these little design techniques and elements are to how people perceive your content.

Jeff Morgan, otherwise known as Señor Morgan to the students of Mountain View, is the main subject of this profile. Jeff has been teaching Spanish for a total of seventeen years, and has inspired countless individuals in the making. After participating in his class for a year and collaborating with his current students, I have come to understand that his personality is found thoroughly sociable, genuine and happy. His philosophical views on life, whether it be educational or social, are none less than extraordinary. To spread his wisdom amongst his young, he teaches lessons to his students that are both memorable and helpful, and I can attest that his words of encouragement still have an impact on me to this day.

Jeff Morgan’s lovely wife, Cecilia Morgan, teaches at Mountain View High School just as Jeff does! She has a very positive outlook on life, and when she’s not teaching at MVHS, she can be found at home nurturing her son, as family is her uppermost priority; “For us, family is the reason of living” (C. Morgan). All of her values including family, happiness, and encouragement, were bestowed upon her by her family. They lived in a small town in Peru called Andes, however, after moving to Lima at age 15, she lost her parents in a tragic car accident. To this day, she carries on her family's values and traditions by providing care, encouragement and compassion for her family while appreciating life’s greatest enjoyments, just as they would want her to do.
