Explorations
Introduction

This was the last unit of our entire journey at Freestyle. This was probably the most lenient, and free-spirited projects throughout both years. Within this unit we worked on a few different forms of expression; Humor and Blink. For the Hummor unit, we explored all the different types of humor and satire. We got to practice the different styles and listen and watch some be done by famous comedians. For blink we got to explore the subconcious. We read the novel Blink by Malcom Gladwell which helped us understand how the brain functions and what our thought process really is. This was one of the best ways to end Freestyle! Overal, Freestyle has opened my eyes to alternative ways of expressing feelings, ideas,a nd concepts. It has broadened my view on the importance of beeing able to tell a story, and how to be open to new ideas. I look forward to caring the qualities freestyle has embeded in me into my future college classes and in life. This place will be missed!

Blink

As part of our last unit in Freestyle, we focused on something called Blink. In this unit we were given the opportunity to explore our subconcious through meditation, writing, and different art projects. Every day at Freestyle during this Unit, we would come to class and meditate, getting ourselves to be in a positive mindset, and a creative mood. After meditation was over we would write for 15-20 minutes on a prompt that was given to us. Quickly afterwards, we would start our art project based off what we had written. All together we collected about five different writting samples and art projects.

Humor

For this section of the Explorations unit, we were given the opportunity to work with humor. We learned about the different types of humor such as satire, and blunder. We then were allowed to wrok with groups and come up with a comedic presentation to share with the rest of the class. As a group of four, Haley, Nicole, Justin and I decided to make a fake advertisement that included practical jokes, irony, and exaggerated humor. For design I created a fake advertisement paper to go along with our presentation and video. The video was a continuation of our Nanny advertisement. Mini-Project

For my Mini-Porject, Sanjana and I decided to incorportae an art project with audio. We first set up our art project, filmed it and then brought it into after effects to play around with the audio. We thought this would be a fun way to learn more about audio while including something we both love to do, which is make art. We filled ballons up with paint and tacked them to a canvas. We then threw sharp objects to pop the ballons and have the paint splatter out of them! Check out our mini-projct by clicking this link!
